Free floor plan creators: AI, editing and export limits

A free floor plan creator is useful when you can complete the task you actually have. Drawing rooms, generating a layout, recognizing an uploaded plan and downloading editable CAD are separate capabilities. Free access to one does not establish free access to the others.

Start with the final output. If you only need to explore furniture placement, a saved project may be sufficient. If a colleague needs an editable file, check the export entitlement before spending time on the drawing.

What the current free plans include

These public plan descriptions were checked on September 28, 2026. They are documentation findings, not tests of signed-in accounts. Promotions, account entitlements and action costs should be checked again before starting.

SynapsFreemium lists up to three models, three pages and three editors, with limited libraries.300 signup credits plus 30 daily credits. Check the cost shown for the intended action.DXF import/export, watermark-free export and high-quality export are listed under Pro and Studio.
Planner 5DFree includes creating and sharing projects and part of the furniture catalog.AI plan recognition is listed under Premium. A general free AI allowance is not established here.CAD export is listed under Professional. Free project sharing is a different deliverable.
MaketFree includes single-floor plan generation, a floor-plan editor and link sharing.50 one-time credits.Downloadable exports require a paid plan.
HomestylerBasic lists a cloud 3D floor planner and unlimited 1K rendering.A dependable Basic AI allowance was not established by the checked page.Pro+ lists watermark removal and colored-plan/construction-drawing exports. Confirm the exact output you need.
SnaptrudeFree lists three projects, basic BIM and Revit export, with no team environment. The checked pricing page does not quantify free AI generations.Presentation outputs are limited. Check the particular output and any team requirement.

Unknown does not mean unavailable. It means the checked source does not justify promising that allowance. An unlimited rendering entry also does not establish unlimited AI floor-plan generation.

The practical choices differ. Planner 5D's free project workflow may suit a manual layout exercise, while its upload recognition is paid. Maket's Free plan can be used to explore a generated single-floor arrangement, but the public terms put downloads behind payment. Synaps provides a credit allowance for AI work, while its paid DXF restriction matters if the next task is CAD handoff.

Budget operations, then check the output

Credit quantities are meaningful only alongside operation costs. Synaps directs you to check the displayed cost before each action. Tracing can charge for individual retained plans in one file, and another generation or image edit is a separate operation. Do not translate 300 signup credits into a fixed number of completed projects. Synaps credit guide

Here is a hypothetical budgeting example using Maket's published rates. A floor generation costs 20 credits and a render costs 10. Two single-floor generations and one render would use 2 × 20 + 10 = 50 credits, assuming no other charged operations. That equals the published one-time Free allowance. It does not unlock downloadable exports. This is arithmetic from the plan description, not an account test or a promise that either layout will meet your brief. Maket credit terms

Before repeating a generation, decide whether the result needs another proposal or a local manual edit. Also check what happens when credits run out and whether the allowance renews. A one-time grant and a daily allowance support different patterns of use.

Use a free-task completion sheet

Write one sentence describing the task, such as: "I need to draw a small office, move a partition and send an editable file to my colleague." Then fill in this record before committing to a tool.

QuestionYour finding
What is the starting material?A brief, a scan, a vector PDF or an existing drawing.
What operation do I need?Manual drawing, AI generation, recognition or an image study.
Can I perform the required edit?Record the actual wall, room or opening change, not just whether the project opens.
How much allowance does the task use?Note the displayed cost and any retry or additional-plan charges.
What can I hand over?Name the format, watermark/quality requirements and receiving application.
Is that output included in this plan?Save the current entitlement shown before starting.
What changes if I stop paying later?Check continued access and editing/export terms for the account.

Mark the task complete only after checking the result where it will be used. A share link may solve a review task. It does not substitute for an editable CAD file if the recipient needs to continue drawing.

Test one bounded task in Synaps

For a new arrangement, use a short brief and follow the boundary-generation tutorial. For an existing scan, use the tracing workflow. Check the action cost first, inspect the editable result and review the export notice before relying on a free handoff.

The export guide describes drawing-sheet formats, but the current pricing table determines plan access. The chosen output still needs inspection; this comparison does not promise free watermark-free, high-quality or DXF delivery.

If the task needs more than a free plan provides, use the Synaps drafting and design workflow to decide whether the supported editing work justifies a paid evaluation. Make that decision from the complete task and the checked output.
